Meet Kyle

Praised for his "meltingly beautiful tone" and "lovely, plummy voice," Filipino countertenor Kyle Sanchez Tingzon is a newcomer to the American classical vocal music scene. He looks forward to performances with Opera San José, American Bach Soloists, San Francisco Bach Choir, Philharmonia Baroque, West Edge Opera, Zephyr Symphony, The Byrd Ensemble, and Pocket Opera this season. He makes role debuts as Oberon (A Midsummer Night's Dream) and the title role in Handel's Rinaldo as well as originating the role of Astrea in Solaris (Stefan Cwik).

After returning to The Glimmerglass Festival as Endimione in Cavalli's La Calisto, last season saw Kyle making debuts in Munich, Germany and Gävle, Sweden, as well as a return to New York City, as a soloist in John Adams' masterpiece, El Niño. He then debuts with Detroit Opera in a return to Goffredo in a familiar production of Rinaldo and then goes on to return to American Bach Soloists as a soloist in the concert series "Bach's Paradise." 

 

Kyle is the First Prize Winner of the Handel Aria Competition, Third Prize Winner of the Rochester Oratorio Society Competition (RIVC), and an Encouragement Award Winner at the Los Angeles Regional Finals of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition.
